The Storytellers PDF Print E-mail

The Storytellers is a weekly program at 6 PM on Mondays, 60 minutes dedicated to the written word, with excerpts from books, short stories, poetry and reminiscences written by local PG area people.  We hope that you, the listeners, will find it an interesting change of pace, a spoken interlude following an afternoon of continuous music.  [Wonderful music, though it is.]  We have about a dozen regular contributors to the program, and I would like to issue a challenge and an invitation to all of you.

How would you like to have your stories, your adventures, your poetry, featured on radio?  If any of you has done any writing, or if you have considered special adventures or experiences in your life to be of interest to the general public, why don't you contact us and get your story recorded into our storyteller’s library for broadcast on our Monday program?  We can have one of our “on air” personalities read it, or if you contact us at the station, we can arrange a time for you to come in and record your contribution in your own voice.  I guarantee that you'll find it a fun experience.  Don't worry about making errors in your recording, as we can edit your reading to make it smooth and effective.  As a guideline, we suggest that you keep your submission down to less than 15 minutes of reading time, which would be approximately 2500 words maximum.

Remember, the show is called “The Storytellers” and it is not limited to published authors and poets.  If you have a story to tell, even if you have never written a piece since school days, jot it down and give us a call and we will be pleased to air it.

Of course, it'll be the station's prerogative to decide on the acceptability of the submissions.  We ask that your presentations be original and not copied from other writers.

This is a great opportunity for you to become the performance artist that you know you are.  And radio really is fun.
